Now, I know you’re wondering how much does it cost to elope, but this is a question that I can’t directly answer as every couple I’ve worked with spends a different amount on their elopement. It depends on what you value for your elopement day, where you decide to elope and what details you want to include on your day.
Elopements are all about crafting a day the reflects the two of you and your relationship. It’s still your wedding day and you don’t deserve any less than someone who is having a traditional wedding. It’s the day that you two are going to look back on for the rest of your lives and celebrate. You deserve to celebrate in an epic way and in a way that you truly want to celebrate. So, really though, how much does it cost to elope?
The answer, it really just depends. Let me elaborate.
First things first you should figure out what your budget it and how much you want to spend on your elopement day in total. Maybe you’re open and you don’t really know how much it costs to elope or what you should even be looking at to spend in your budget.
Here are a few questions you should be asking yourself when deciding how much you want to spend on your elopement.
1. Where do we want to elope? Do we want to elope in our state or out of state? Do we want to have a destination elopement in another country?
These questions will help you to start talking about travel costs which include flights, car rental, Airbnb/hotel, etc.
2. What vendors do we need?
Couples who elope tend to value experiences over things and being able to remember those experiences, so a decent amount of couple’s budget tends to be spent on a photographer. You can also decide if you want a videographer, officiant, florist and hair/makeup artist.
3. What do we want to wear?
You can go all out and buy an epic dress from Rue de Seine or Daci. You can also get an gorgeous dress from a much cheaper place like Lulus. I wrote an article on 5 Best Wedding Dress Styles for Eloping
4. What activities Do I want to Include on my Elopement day?
An elopement is so much more than just pretty pictures and saying your vows–although very important! Ultimately, it’s about the entire experience that you have on your elopement day and you can’t put a value on that. Think about what you two love to do or something that you’ve always do to create a memorable and incredible experience that you’ll remember for the rest of your life.
Do you want to take a helicopter tour? Do you want go hiking? Do you want to go skiing or snowboarding? Do you want to go jeeping? The options are endless and if you can dream it up, then you can include it on your elopement day!
How much does it cost to elope?
Once you know your budget and start to think about the questions above you need to figure out what means the most to you and what you value the most. If you don’t know, sit down and figure it out. The easiest way to do this is to write a list! Allocate the biggest portions of your budget to your top priorities!
Once you’ve decided what your priorities are you can start looking for your vendors and start booking them Lock those important pieces in! As I mentioned above photography tends to be important to couples eloping, because if you’re having a two person elopement the only way to document your elopement, to be able to remember all the details and to look back on your day and relive it is through your images. So, make sure you find a photographer that you love and one whom you click and connect with!
