Lago Di Braies is one of the most incredible lakes in the Dolomites. Before I had actually gone I had seen so many amazing pictures and dreamed of going. I always wondered if it would be as stunning at the images I saw and to say the least, it didn’t disappoint in the slightest! If you arrive early before people hop in the wooden boats you’ll see the most epic reflections on the lake of the surround mountains which make this sight even more awe inspiring! If you have an adventurous spirit, and love the outdoors and want to have an adventure elopement then having a Lago Di Braies Elopement would be so perfect!

Lago Di Braies Elopement
How to Get There
If you decide to have a Lago Di Braies Elopement I definitely suggest you rent a car and drive there by yourself. It’s the easiest and you won’t have to rely on anybody else and I’m pretty sure you don’t want to miss your epic elopement day because of a slow bus driver.
The main national road SS49 will lead directly to the lake and it’s connected to several different highways. I drove there from Venice and it was an absolutely gorgeous drive! It’s easiest to drive from Venice, Milano or Innsbruck or even from closer cities like Brunico, Trento, and Garda Lake.
Distance from each city:
Milan: 4.5 hours drive
Venice: 3 hours drive
Innsbruck: 2 hours drive
Brunico: 35 minute drive
Hotels to Stay At
Hotel Lago Di Braies
This hotel will give you the easiest access to the lake since it is right next to Lago Di Braies!
Majestic Hotel & Spa
This hotel is beautiful and is located about 35 minutes from the lake.
You can stay anywhere in Dobbiaco really and short drive to the gorgeous lake!
When To Have Your Elopement
I highly suggest to have a sunrise elopement or photo session to beat the crowds! Anytime after 9:00am a lot of people really start to roll in and I’m pretty sure you don’t want to have tons of people watch you as you say your vows. I mentioned it earlier as well, but in the morning you’ll be able see the reflection on the lake as well and that is something you do not want to miss!
Activities
You can hike around Lago Di Braies which is a very easy hike, and will take only about 45 minutes.
You can also rent a boat which makes for a great experience and will give you a different perspective of the scenery! It is fairly expensive, but is definitely worth the money. The boat rentals are available from June to September, 10am to 5pm!
When To Go
You can go during summer or winter, but you will be limited on what you can do during winter. However, it is just as beautiful and serene during the winter as it is during summer!
Visit the Chapel
There is a tiny little church a few minutes walk from the hotel which is an iconic spot. The chapel was built in 1904 and had a major event during World War II where an SS commander brought 137 prisoners here to make an exchange for his safety. It can add a fun and unique charm to your elopement day!
Lago Di Braies Elopement
Lago Di Braies is the most beautiful lake I have ever seen in my life. If you’re a couple who loves the outdoors and wants to say their vows surrounded by epic mountains and a gorgeous lake then you really can’t go wrong with choosing to have your elopement here at Lago Di Braies.
