This adventurous elopement in the mountains was one for the books! It was a rainy and windy day, but we embraced the weather and had such a blast exploring the mountains and enjoying the views. These two said their vows by a lake surrounded by mountains as they shed a few tears! It was such a special and sweet moment. Once we were done exploring and having their ceremony we headed back into town to hit up a bar where they had a few beers and celebrated being newlyweds!
Why did you decide to elope?
Felt like when planning a traditional wedding, we were trying to please everyone else instead of us two. That’s a big no no!
How did you two meet?
I was at my friend’s house and her fiance (now husband) is Andrew’s brother. He came over to hang out with his brother so that’s when we first met and the rest is history. He downloaded tinder to see if i was on there to see if i was on the market and slid into my DM’s on Instagram haha!
How did the proposal go down?
We were on the way back to Charleston from Atlanta, about a 5 hour drive and I had really bad acid reflux that day and was in a lot of pain. I looked like a hot mess because I didn’t care haha. He said “Hey, lets go to Pitt Street Bridge to watch the sunset!” which is something we always do. I’m a sucker for a good sunset, but I could tell that he was acting really weird. As soon as the sun went below the horizon, he whipped out the ring got down on one knee and proposed. The whole time I kept saying, well yelling, “NUH UH, NO WAY, NO FREAKING WAY, NUH UH”. It was perfect!
What is one piece of advice you could give to someone thinking about eloping?
If you and your fiance are considering eloping, DO IT! You get to create your own day, do things you couldn’t usually do at a traditional wedding. You could go skydiving, hot air balloon rides, swimming with sharks, the list is endless and it’s all up to you two!
If had to pick one moment from your elopement day that was your favorite, what would it be?
Exchanging our vows in what should be a part of the wonders of the world!! I’m not a cry-er, but even saying my vows to Andrew made me cry like a baby.
