Venice Honeymoon Photography | Italy Elopement Photographer

Venice is one of my favorite cities in Italy. It’s kind of funny because I typically prefer towns that aren’t very touristy with tons of people walking around, but there is just something about this beautiful city. It pulls you in and you can’t help but to love it! I was so excited when these two asked me to photograph their Venice Honeymoon. We spent our time wandering through all the alleys and streets of Venice searching for the untouched parts of Venice–if that’s possible! These two quickly became my friends and I am so honored I was able to capture such a fun time in their life for them. Keep scrolling to see this amazing Venice Honeymoon Photography!

How did you two meet?

We met in high school during our sophomore year of high school. We had a few classes together and became friends with a group who hung out and played board games together! We then dated for a little while in high school before reconnecting after college.

When you did you realize that you two were meant to be? What made you want to marry each other?

What made us realize we were meant to be was the fact that we reconnected across the country four years after high school. JP and I dated long distance and then he decided to move from Virginia to California. We knew God put in each others’ lives a second time for a reason! We knew we wanted to get married very early on because we knew each other since we were kids, had so much fun together, and loved to travel, share our faith, and our Italian heritage.

How did he propose? Were you surprised or did you expect it?

JP proposed in Carmel, CA on the beach at sunset. We had driven up the coast on a road trip together. It was so beautiful and intimate! I told J.P. that I wanted a family ring, because I love the history of love that it holds, but didn’t know if that would be possible. The diamond on my ring is his Italian grandmother’s, and the band is new, that J.P. designed to capture the fact that we’re starting a new love story, and to combine it with his grandmother’s diamond to hold the timeless story of love. I wanted the proposal to happen on the trip, but I didn’t want to get my hopes up! That night I had a feeling it would happen since he seemed nervous all evening though.

What made you decide to have a Venice Honeymoon?

We decided to honeymoon in Italy because it means so much to both of us since both of our families are
Italian. My grandfather was raised in Central Italy, and JP’s grandparents are from Sicily. JP grew up visiting Italy with his family in the summer, and I studied abroad in Rome to learn more about my heritage. We both share a love for Italy, the culture, and the language. We wanted to honeymoon in Italy because it is our favorite place to go together. We love practicing our language skills, the scenery, and of course the food! It was a no brainer.

What is one piece of advice that you could give brides-to-be?

A wedding is a day, marriage is forever. Our wedding day was beautiful and magical, but it was a lot of work planning it! It is important to remember through the stress of planning that you are preparing for a lifetime, not just a day.

Any fun story about you two or any additional information you would like to add?

We both play musical instruments! The first song we performed together was Jupiter by Holst, and the theme from Jupiter is what I walked down the aisle to, 10 years after performing it together in high school!
